Blake Hall’s Fall From Grace

The proud image of Blake Hall took quite a hit this year.  He’s been the face of local Republican politics for ever and a day, and I think he was synonymous with powerful conservative interests for the city, the county, heck…for the whole State of Idaho for as long as I can remember.  Things started downhill when he ended up in a not-so-private divorce from his wife a few years back…but this year, all of the carefully placed Jenga blocks that supported his tower of power, came-a tumbling down.

His conviction last week on the charges of stalking his ex girlfriend was the final whammy that toppled the last shaky underpinnings of his stature.

So.  Where to, next?  What happens to an attorney who gets such a conviction?  Does it set the stage for being disbarred?  His Republican party has already tried to dislodge him from his positions with them, seems now that he has a conviction he’s probably easier to kick  out.  The church may have a few choice words (but we’ll never know, and that’s a good thing, would you like YOUR issues to be known?)

I wonder how much of a push down the slippery slope came from his not-so-private run-in with the man who really owns this town, Frank Vandersloot?  Not that Blake is innocent, but some of these behaviors are not new to him if you believe the rumor mill which had him pegged as a playa 20 years ago…why would things wait until this year to become an issue?
