Does the Navy Lie?

I’m thinking, probably.

Does it lie with as much alacrity as BP?

I’m pretty sure, probably not.

Why haven’t we gotten the Navy in there to babysit those colossal infants at Beyond Puke?  I’m sick and tired of BP’s BS and at this point if they said “kym, the sky is blue, grass is green, and the moon most certainly is not made from green cheese”, I’d never believe them.
.
oil-rig
.
I’ve had it up to my eyeballs with this crap.  So maybe “up to my eyeballs” on a 5 ft. 3 in. tall person isn’t exactly monumental, but when you get enough people up to their eyeballs sick of this, then we become a force for change.

BP is about as right-for-the-job as a murderer is right for the job of prosecuting his own case.  I know our government doesn’t have the resources to clean this oil mess up (surprise - that’s what happens when we elect in idiots who cut taxes and call it a “free market” economy) but we DO have the resources to watch the BP sociopaths like the greedy little turd blossoms they are.

Get involved - help the rest of us work to pull the cork out of our own government’s ass.

The Joy of Being Crude

So…okay.  They are “dispersing” the oil globs by use of chemicals (which kills marine life just as effectively, if not more so, than crude oil and is literally about the WORST thing that can be done).  We are not using microbes - which neutralize the oil, and which all top scientists across the world say is the best course of action.

Why are we ignoring the obvious and doing the most damage possible?

Well, here’s a thought.  They’re now building giant shopping malls for tourists in former rain forests.  Who is doing the building?  That’s right - corporations that are owned / run by Texaco / Chevron - some of the very companies that killed the rain forests.

A destroyed rain forest that’s good for nothing but a shopping spree is not really all THAT different from a destroyed chunk of ocean that’s good for nothing but an oil field.

But, no way.  It must be a coincidence.  Just like how it must be a coincidence that top scientists who know aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall about microbes and other effective ways to capture / nautralize the oil aren’t being interviewed on the news.  Because, you know, a dead ocean is a great source of income for oil companies.  And, unless you watch the corporate news, you know that BP is only paying a few hundred million on liability - the rest of the cost is being picked up by you and me.  BP will be free to continue making a profit.

Balloon Boy got 24/7 coverage for almost a week, but we can sit through an hour of “news” and hear little of value about the oil leak.

BP is a huge advertiser on the 24/7 news channels.  Which is why I always say, “If you want to know which way your news is spinning, observe the ads sandwiched between the segments.”  I cannot believe Americans think they’re getting NEWS now that “news” is an income generator instead of a Public Service (which it used to be, and networks did it at a loss in order to get their FCC license renewed).

Observe what you see / hear and better yet - what you DON’T.  Note how frequent you’re hearing politicians and corporate shills assuring us, “the plumes are hardly visible”, “the ocean will absorb the oil”, “it looks like chocolate milk” - and how infrequently you hear that Halliburton capped that oil well for BP - waiting for the price to jump - but instead, the cap popped and now all involved are NOT repairing the problem - because they know what a dead ocean can bring to them in terms of profit.

GREED brought us this problem and greed is exacerbating it.

Think I’m sounding conspiratorial?  Then I remind you to reflect back to the fallout after 911, when most of America got bamboozled into thinking W Bush was doing the right thing by bringing us into war (in an area of the world where OIL is also prolific).

WAKE UP PEOPLE.  Start demanding accountability by being an involved citizen…or watch as your rights, choices, and freedoms get entirely gobbled up by your corporate pimp daddies.

Propaganda From the Good Old Days - Fun!

I love this stuff - especially when it features a very-impressed, sciency-looking “Green Acres” guy exclaiming, “Startling!” in such a way that only a man who climbs a power pole to answer his phone can.

The page took a while to load on my computer.  But the videoes themselves are a total of under 15 minutes, and quite typical of the propaganda machine at work.  This is a softer, fuzzier version of propangada, though - the likes of which I sometimes feel nostalgic for in today’s heavy-handed FAUX Noise world.

Point two.  The bumbling bomber failed to consider the VIN on his Pathfinder’s engine block.  You all know what a VIN is, right?  It’s another wicked government regulation in a nation that doesn’t need no stinkin government regulations.

And here’s more good news - he is a naturalized US citizen, so we can all relax - he has a right to be here.  And it might be the Canadians’ fault anyway - because that’s what Tray Parker would do.  I think we should blame South Park for everything that ails us.  Does anybody know of a way we might blame the BP oil volcano on Butters?

Sue the Government, Bailout the Basturds…

…and My Favorite Gun-Toting Liberal

Update -  the Supreme Court JUST ruled in this man’s family’s favor.

The catch, of course, is that if you’re entirely legal, entirely tax-paying, and entirely hard-working, you can’t demand universal health care.  But, if you’re held in detention…then you are so entitled that you can sue to get it.  How ’bout that?

Here’s something else to ponder.  Who’s going to pay all those people who are losing their livelihoods because of the (Dick Cheney run, Halliburton-owned) BP oil volcano that is spewing up from the sea?  That’s right - it’s you and me.  Privatize the profits, socialize the loses.  But ONLY for Big Money.  For the gods’ sake, don’t provide a social safety net for the working class.  That would be so Nazi-lovin.

And, of course…we have John McCain being opposed to the deplorable immigration law in Arizona (me and McCain in agreement on something - heads-up for those flying pigs).  At first I wondered why, but then I remembered, he was born on a military base off our soil…which can be a slippery slope.

FromThe Gun-Toting Liberal” (who I love madly, wildly, completely).
.
THINK, then APPLY REASON (not fear)…it’s good for others when you know wtf you’re blathering on about and why…

Arizona’s Prison Stock is Going Up -

- We’re Screwed
Arizona’s “detention” centers will be in hog heaven once the brown-skinned people start being raked in.  And if you thought the govenment is thrilled about this soon-to-be bloated over population, think again.  The government-run jails want nothing to do with it.  That’s why CCA  (Corrections Corporation of America) will be running the show.

And making money.

From OUR tax dollars.

Check out the link (there’s not much reading here unless you want to read).  But, look at the stock.  And while you’re at it, check out the guy on the banner.  If that isn’t the dictionary picture of a “dickhead“, then what is?

Here’s the front page (without a dickhead picture, but with plenty of inmates safely tucked behind impassable walls, so we can all feel safe now).  There’s even a teary-upping little video to make you feel extra-extra-special feel-good about your tax dollars being used on the New York Stock Exchange to peddle long-pig meat (that’s a term I picked up from Supernatural, wink, it means “humans”).

Where are the Constitution-lovin’  Teabaggers now?  Oh, yeah.  That’s right.  Most of them are WHITE, so this brown-skinned law doesn’t affect them.  But, you know, here’s a prime example of what they SAY they are fighting against - government taking away our rights.  Well, CCA detains adults and young people whose rights have been taken away - sometimes for such naughty crimes as curfew-breaking or mistakenly being identified as illegal, and the PRIVATE PRISON CORPORATIONS are making money on it.

While our heroes (the Teabaggers) are up in arms over “Obamacare”, “birth certificates”, “flag pins”, “gun rights”, and “tea parties” - this insane crap is going on right under our noses.  And if you think it won’t get WORSE now that the private corporations are making money on putting people in prison - think again.  At some point another threat will catch on.  Maybe the “news corporations” will rally up a fear of caucasion males with a less than perfect record, without a college diploma, and who earn less than 40k a year.  You know how those guys are - big, scary, under-educated, and probably dangerous because they’re not as rich as Dick Cheney (now there’s a big DICK for ya).

It’s not your government that’s out to get its grimy hands on you - you’re expensive to keep fed and dressed and otherwise cared for.  But the truly evil corporations like Corrections Corporations of America - they aim to make money on your pretty ass, if only they can find a way to stick it in prison.  And trust me, eventually, they can.

Someday, Soilent Green could be made out of YOU.

Okay, not my happiest rant, but damn it, people need to snap out of their FAUX News hypnosis.  So, if you know a FAUXer, tell them about this (and I hope it makes a few synapses fire up in their head).

The “Joy” of Nazi-like Laws in the US

The joy starts now!  It’s party-time for lead-footed white folks like me.  Being a speed-demon, I’m ready to haul my arse down south to AZ and get ignored for doing my favorite thing in a car (speeding like a wild woman through wide open desert) while the cops are busy bothering the brown-skinned people

Maybe the brown-skinned people will tire of the torment and leave the state, take their purchasing power with them.  Let John McCain go into the fields and pick lettuce.

And what about pale-faced Canadians?  They can be illegals, too (we all know they are OBVIOUSLY here to access our health care since they hate theirs so badly they booed Sarah Palin for suggesting Canada adopt our style).

What does an illegal Canadian look like?  Could one look like you?  How much fun will it be to get stopped outside the gas station and asked for your papers?  Then stopped as you’re walking to work?  How about when you’re hanging out at the local park with friends?  Maybe when you’re leaving a local restaurant?  Perhaps while you’re at the zoo with your kids?

Obama is against this stupid law.  Damned socialist, Marxist, Communist, Nazi who only wants to take our guns (even though he’s actually relaxed gun laws).  He’s a black, Kenyan, Muslim - who will have to provide his birth certificate to get back on the Arizona ballot in 2012.

Why does the right claim to hate “big government” but then continue to vote for MORE of it?  I recently spoke with a retired Navy guy who has a government job.  He hates the government but he agrees we need to bring manufacturing back here - by re-instating import taxes…but, we need to leave the government out of it.  And he wants the states to take care of their own funding, not be beholden to the federal government, not be sending our money to the federal govenment just to have it divided as the evil government best sees fit.  We can support ourselves, he insists.  Yeah, on Monsanto-owned potato seeds and with no federal farm subsidies.  We’ll sell LOTS of garage doors and Mcburgers on five cent a spud field work.  Like Brugess Meredith on that Twilight Zone episode, we just want to be left alone, by golly!

When did the final nail in the coffin of rational thinking happen?  When we elected a black man?

So You Want to Secede from the US -

Congratulations!
Lots of states want to bust out of this hellhole we call “The United States of America”, and who can blame them?

You see, states get screwed by “Federal taxes“.  Never mind that most “pro-secession” states get MORE money back than they put in.  Secession would relieve the more enlightened states from funding moochers.  Plus, it would let the seceeders live free or die, and doesn’t that just make you want to sing a hundred joyful rounds of “Born Free”?

Andy Williams, where are you?

But wait.  There’s more.  Getting the Federal government out of your state will be GREAT for business.  No more intrusive overtime pay, minimum wage, worker’s comp…no labor laws at all.  Did you get hurt on the job due to faulty equipment?  Tough.  Hire a lawyer.  You say you can’t afford one on 7.00 an hour?  Go complain to the president of Exxon/Monsanto/GE - whichever entity runs your “country”.  Maybe they will feel benevolent and buy you legal help.  But they probably won’t.  So you’ll have to apply for legal aid - oops!  No government means NO infringement on your “rights”.  You’re on your own, kid.  Yippie!

And, hey, speaking of rights, your second amendment right will stop being infringed upon.  You will not only be encouraged to be armed like Mad Max, you’ll probably be expected to be (and I bet you’ll look hot as hell doing it).  If you decide you want what they have in California or Colorado (like legal aid, labor laws, and overtime pay) you’ll need your guns to take over those states.  Which still might be tricky, since they have nationally-backed armed forces - but you’ve got a militia.  Good for you!

So, go ahead and secede.  Or, impress us all with what’s between your ears instead of what’s between your crosshairs.

When the Boston Tea Party happened, the Colonists were mad at Parliament because Parliament members were in bed with the East India Tea Company.  If you know tea partiers who shop at Walmart, bank with Citi, or get “information” from NewsCorp, you might want to mention this to them.  If they STILL think the problem is “the government”, then tell them to keep off the roads, their kids out of school, and thier mama away from Medicare.

The mine workers in Virginia fought for five years to get their working conditions safer while Massey just kept paying the fines and blowing off the repairs.  Someday, when Virginia secedes, maybe Massey can govern the whole state.  Then, it can fine ITSELF!

How Many Patriots…

…don white sheets and carry confederate flags (America’s Nazi symbol) made from fabric built in China?  Like the mystery surrounding the licks of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know.

I know something good Patriots CAN do, though.  They can bead up with sweat after a hard, fun day in a local garden producing local food to feed local people and sustain local dollars.

Update - Census work is still fun, though it’s getting quite crowded in the office.  The cool kids work mainly at night, and I’ve made some bitchin new friends.

Lots of unhappy Census form respondants fear the government “in my private life.”  These people usually have internet, cell service, and satellite tv.  I’ve personally been hounded by a satellite company for months (mailers, banners).  Last month they started sending out representatives to knock on my door.  Just like Census workers - only these guys want my money (and my tv / shopping habits). The Census Bureau knowing how much money should be allocated to our community is invasive.  But it’s perfectly okay for our surfing habits to be monitored.  And now, iPhone technology is connected to our credit/debit card.

Either be afraid of it all, or set your sights on higher-minded things.  It’s stupid to fear Census-takers, and stupider still to draw a gun on them.  They are hard-working, entirely LEGAL citizens who DO NOT work for the FBI, HomeLand Security, INS/ICE, IRS, or any other Federal/State authority that gathers information inwhich to prosecute your ass for naughty deeds you may have commited / be commiting.  I know this, because I hire Census-takers.  If they are involved with any of the above-mentioned entities, they cannot work for the Census.  If we catch you smoking a bowl or stripping a stolen vehicle, and then we call the cops - you get off scott-free and WE go to jail.
It’s that simple.

What’s In The Health Care Bill?

Thanks to Debu Majumdar for providing this to Dan Henry, who published it as part of the Idaho Falls Drinking Liberally weekly blog/newsletter last week.  I thought it was too informative to keep from sharing.  So many people are complaining about the bill in very vague terms.  Did you know about these provisions?

  1. Small business tax credits  Offers tax credits to small businesses to make employee coverage more affordable.  Tax credits of up to 35% of premiums will be immediately available to firms that choose to offer coverage.  Effective beginning for calendar year 2010.  (Beginning in 2014, the small business tax credits will cover 50% of premiums.)
  2. Begins to close the Medicare Part D doughnut hole  Provides a $250 rebate to Medicare beneficiaries who hit the doughnut hole in 2010.  Effective beginning for calendar year 2010.  (Beginning in 2011, institutes a 50% discount on brand-name drugs in the doughnut hole; also completely closes the doughnut hole by 2020.)

  5. Ends rescissions  Bans insurance companies from dropping people from coverage when they get sick.  Effective 6 months after enactment.
  6. No discrimination against children with pre-existing conditions  Prohibits new health plans in all markets plus grandfathered group health plans from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions.  Effective 6 months after enactment.  (Beginning in 2014, this prohibition would apply to all persons.)
  7. Bans lifetime limits on coverage  Prohibits health insurance companies from placing lifetime caps on coverage.  Effective 6 months after enactment.
  8. Bans restrictive annual limits on coverage  Tightly restricts the use of annual limits to ensure access to needed care in all new plans and grandfathered group health plans.  These tight restrictions will be defined by HHS.  Effective 6 months after enactment.  (Beginning in 2014, the use of any annual limits would be prohibited for all new plans and grandfathered group health plans.)

Whip Out Your Wife’s Shotgun…

…Here Comes a Census Worker!
(Why can’t this guy use his OWN shotgun?  Just wondering.)

Eric Erickson (CNN) said he would  “pull out [his] wife’s shotgun” if a census worker came to try to jail him for not filling out his census form.

“This is crazy,” Erickson said of the census. “What gives the Commerce Department the right to ask me how often I flush my toilet? Or about going to work? I’m not filling out this form. I dare them to try and come throw me in jail. I dare them to. Pull out my wife’s shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door. They’re not going on my property. They can’t do that. They don’t have the legal right, and yet they’re trying.”

Erickson would later write that his comment was “misconstrued.”

Talk about “misconstrued”, census workers don’t come to “jail” idiots like him.  Sheriffs do.  And, I’d like to know where in the decennial census form this asshat is finding the questions pertaining to his toilet or work habits.  I work for the census, I’ve seen the decennial form (more times than I can count).  I promise, there is NOTHING anywhere on that form that asks how many times a person flushes his / her crapper.

Despite the census count, anybody who has a brain and lives in a drought area actually should be concerned about how much they’re “flushing”.  Keeping track of water usage is a good way prepare for future shortages (which is what the next civil war could be about - unless stupidity gets us all, first).  And if a city gets big enough to justify mass public transit, then what is so wrong with knowing how a person gets to work / is willing to get to work?  Why is improving one’s community being seen as a wicked plot?

Imagine if a black, Muslim, left-leaner had said such things as these idiots (Sarah, Rush, Glenn, etc.) are saying?  I got called “un-American” for not supporting an illegal war that has led to the deaths of thousands of awesome soldiers.  But these people are being praised for threatening average Americans who are simply out there trying to make an honest buck by counting people for a CONSTITUTIONALLY MANDATED CENSUS.

I turned down field work for THIS exact reason.  I’m concerned about showing up at somebody’s door, having that somebody see my hippie-happy-peace-sign studded Subaru, and hauling out their gun in response to all that evil.

The US Constitution says we must conduct a person count every ten years - Article 1, Section 1.  It’s in there, along with the rest of the rules.  (Why do so many Americans want their rights - but not their responsibilities?)

These people are tromping the hell out of their own Bill of Rights and then are going to be rip-roaring pissed once they encounter people (like me) standing up and speaking out against their behavior.  I’m as pro second-amendment as they come, but oops! - that’s because I understand the ENTIRE amendment.  And I’m one of the (growing mass of Americans) who will for it if these dumbasses insist.  They won’t like it, though.  They’ll feel victimized, downtrodden, stomped upon by the government - all that stuff they claim to be fighting against.  Ironic.

If you know anybody like this, please tell them to fill out the g-damned census form.  To do otherwise simply costs YOUR county more money, gets YOUR state less representation, and makes it harder for YOU to rely on free lunch programs for your kids and subsidies for your farm land.

Honestly, this is stupid.  And the TV is making it worse.
